Eligibility / educational qualification

You can download the UPSC CSE 2026 e-Admit Card from the official application portal at upsconline.nic.in. Log in with your Registration ID and date of birth to access your hall ticket.

UPSC has sent the e-Admit Card by e-mail to all candidates who had not yet downloaded it. Check your registered e-mail ID including the spam/junk folder, or log in to upsconline.nic.in directly to download it.

UPSC has introduced Face Authentication at all examination venues. All candidates must undergo this biometric verification on the day of the exam. Arriving at least 45 minutes before the exam start time is strongly recommended to complete this process without delay.

You must carry a printed copy of your UPSC CSE 2026 e-Admit Card along with a valid government-issued photo identity document such as an Aadhaar card, Passport, or Voter ID. Both documents are mandatory for entry.

The Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper I (200 marks, 100 questions) and CSAT Paper II (200 marks, 80 questions). Paper II is qualifying in nature, requiring a minimum of 33%. Negative marking of one-third applies for each incorrect response.

You must hold a degree from a recognised university in any discipline to be eligible for the Civil Services Examination 2026. Final-year degree students may also be eligible to appear in the Preliminary Examination subject to the conditions stated in the official notification.
