How to apply

Online application is the only valid mode for this recruitment. The flow is: register → log in → fill the form → upload documents → pay the fee → submit → download confirmation. Read every step below before starting because once you submit, most personal details cannot be changed.

The Syllabus Released for this application is May 2026. We strongly recommend completing the application at least 2-3 days before the deadline — the official portal usually sees heavy load on the last day, and payment-gateway timeouts in the final hours can cause submissions to fail.

  1. 1 Visit the official TNPSC portal at tnpsc.gov.in and locate the Group 1 recruitment advertisement.
  2. 2 Register with your active e-mail address and mobile number to create a candidate profile.
  3. 3 Fill in all personal, educational, and category details accurately in the online application form.
  4. 4 Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and required supporting documents in the prescribed format.
  5. 5 Pay the applicable application fee through the available online payment modes.
  6. 6 Submit the form before the closing date and save the acknowledgement slip for future reference.

Selection process

The selection process is conducted in 4 stages: Preliminary Examination (Objective MCQ – 300 marks), Main Examination (Descriptive – 750 marks + Qualifying Tamil Paper), Interview / Personality Test (100 marks) and Final Merit List (based on Mains + Interview). Candidates must clear each stage to be eligible for the next, and the final merit list is prepared on the combined performance across all stages. Detailed marking schemes, qualifying cut-offs, and any tie-breaker rules are listed in the official notification linked above.
